This picture was taken near the top of Monte Tambura, in the Apuane Alps, sometimes in autumn 2006. Monte Tambura (1895m) is not the highest peak of this range, but the view is nevertheless amazing.
The Alpi Apuane are located near Lucca (Tuscany, Italy).
The famous wines of Tuscany add a good reason for visiting this region. Fall is probably the best season for visiting. With a mild and dry climate, hiking up to 2000m in autumn is not a problem.
Visiting Lucca is also a must.
