Once, not long ago, a small Egyptian Police Band arrived in Israel. They came to play an initiation ceremony but, due to bureaucracy, bad luck, or for whatever reason, they were left stranded at the airport.
The Band’s Visit is a refreshing, funny and subtle comedy. Two cultures clash because of a simple spelling problem, the Band should have taken the bus to Petah Tikva but instead they are dropped off the bus in the middle of nowhere, in Beit Hatikva. These lost musicians find a group of Israelis who give them a small place to stay and with whom they will share one night.
